Should You Move to Niagara 5 Now? A Readiness Check
Page date October 30, 2026. Sources read October 30, 2026. This is a dated snapshot; we refresh it weekly.
Short answer: As of October 30, 2026, there is no Niagara 5 general availability (GA) release to move to. Tridium targets GA for December 2026 and has not announced it yet. Tridium's N5 FAQ says to "Standardize on Niagara 4.15 where appropriate" and to keep SMA active. Niagara 4.15 is the active Long-Term Support version, with updates planned "through Q3 of 2028". Readiness comes down to three things: your hardware, your third-party modules, and keeping 4.15 patched while you wait.
Integrator vs owner readiness
Integrators: Early Access is for bench testing (Tridium N5 page). Inventory third-party modules, confirm signed N5 versions exist, and get stations onto 4.15.
Owners: the Tridium N5 page says owners join the beta "through your System Integrator". For most sites the near-term step is 4.15 plus active SMA, not N5.

Questions
Should I upgrade to Niagara 5 now?
You can't move to a GA release yet. Tridium targets December 2026 and advises standardizing on 4.15 where appropriate.
Is it safe to stay on 4.15?
4.15 is the active LTS version, with updates planned through Q3 2028, as long as you apply security updates.
Can my JACE-8000 run Niagara 5?
No, per Tridium.
Do I need SMA?
Yes. Tridium says eligible Supervisors and JACE-9000 units need active SMA to move to N5.
Will my third-party modules work?
Only if the vendor ships an N5-compatible, signed version. Check with each vendor.
Still to verify: the Edge 10 "final version 4.15" claim has no Tridium source yet. We found no Tridium "beta started" notice.
